AN INCREDIBLY VERSATILE MATERIAL WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene.
Being hydrophobic, non-wetting, high density and resistant to high temperatures, PTFE is an incredibly versatile material with a wide variety of applications, though it’s perhaps best-known for its non-stick properties.
ADVANTAGES OF USING PTFE FILLED COMPOUNDS
Delrin possesses several properties that make it ideal for mechanical applications and the material of choice for metal part replacement:
Acetron® GP is Quadrant’s general purpose copolymer acetal and is the only porosity-free acetal product available today. Investments in process technology by Quadrant now provide the performance and machinability of acetal without center core porosity. Quadrant’s in-line photometric quality procedure assures every plate and rod is porosity-free as measured by Quadrant’s dye penetrant test making it the preferred acetal for food contact and medical applications.
Acetron® GP natural is FDA, USDA, NSF, Canada AG and 3A-Dairy compliant.
Alro Plastics is your source for Quadrant’s new FDA compliant Acetron GP colors. All sizes are available with small minimums and quick turnaround.
CTFE/PCTFE may be confused with other fluoropolymers such as PTFE— but the differences in the materials are quite notable. While there may be some overlap, it should be noted that CTFE/PCTFE and PTFE are each ideal for different purposes.
Choosing CTFE or PCTFE during manufacturing may be a beneficial choice for many designs. Both offer excellent stress-crack resistance and high mechanical strength. CTFE and PCTFE are frequently utilized in cryogenic valve seats, high-pressure gas seats and deals, and various electrical components. A low rate of moisture absorption ensures that CTFE/PCTFE products will maintain beneficial electrical properties even in the face of high humidity—a property that is largely unique among competitive materials.
CTFE and PCTFE offer a wide range of benefits, such as:
Performance Plastics is one of the industry pioneers in offering one of the highest performing, melt-processable thermoplastics, Torlon® PAI. Torlon® is a high strength, high temperature (500°F max) polymer that is injection molded and oven “cured” to produce a thermoset polymer with excellent bearing properties.
exolite® is a unique cross-linked polystyrene, microwave plastic manufactured by C-Lec Plastics Inc. This material’s most notable properties are it’s stable electrical properties into the Giga-hertz frequency range. It is also optically clear, with a slight yellow cast, when polished (approximately the same as Acrylic), dimensionally stable, and has excellent sound transmission characteristics.
As a result, Rexolite® is often used for high-frequency circuit substrates, microwave components, and lenses with acoustic, optical and radio-frequency applications.
